These two words have nothing in common.
Berth is usually a noun— referring to any of several different kinds of place, or space.
Usage 1. a space where a boat stays, when it is docked—or a space reserved for large trucks or other vehicles to park:
The truck had a berth inside the warehouse for loading and unloading.
Usage 2. a space to sleep on a boat
All the berths were full, so the new sailors had to sleep in the hallway.
Usage 3. a space for a person to join a team.
He was lucky to get the last open berth on the team.
Usage 4. the empty space around something that you don’t want to bump into.
It’s best to have a wide berth between you and the other cars when you’re parallel parking.
Berth can also be used as a verb, in its meaning as a place to put a person or a vehicle:
We don’t know where to berth the new sailors.
We were unable to berth the ship because of the storm.
You may also hear or read berth used to mean some other kinds of spaces; it is not strictly limited, but it always means either an empty space around something, or an empty space where you can put something to rest.
Birth, on the other hand, you probably already know the meaning of; birth refers to the event when a baby (human or animal) comes into the world. Or metaphorically, when anything comes into the world:
Giving birth is one of the most painful and joyful things a woman can do.
Social media gave birth to ‘memes.’
The mother gives birth; the baby is born. The event as a process, can also be called birthing:
The birthing of a new book may be as difficult as giving birth to a child.
